What makes a great sound clip?

Aims for today By the end of this lesson: You should be able to recognise what makes a good sound clip (and why) including: Technical recording issues Performance issues How these impact on the aims of the clip You will have contributed to a discussion forum and will be able to aply your knowledge to the exam pieces

Listening Topics Aim and purpose What is the purpose of the clip? What information does it relay? Who is the audience? Does it meet their needs? Is there an appropriate mood and atmosphere? Technical aspects to think about Volume Microphone technique Noise Beginnings and endings Sound quality Editing and performance Does the clip flow well? Any gaps or silences ? Is it slick and professional? Does the editing match the aim and purpose? Is the performance good? Structure Does the clip tell a story? Is there an introduction? Is their story development? Is there an effective ending? Does the “message” get across? Is it an appropriate length? What does appropriate mean in this context?
