Passive vs. Active Passive Active Utilizes natural forces(gravity, convection currents) Batch Thermosiphon Active Uses electricity to pump water throughout the system Direct Indirect Drainback (Solar Water Heater)

How does it work? Direct Systems: Collector heats water and hot water rises to tank Cool water descends to collector and is heated Indirect Systems: Anti-freeze is heated and goes on to heat water, the two never make contact Drainback systems are better suited for areas which experience cold weather, distilled water is used as a heating fluid and is stored inside
