Objective Check Total Time: 1 minute OBJECTIVE: SWBAT multiply polynomials by creating area models and getting at least 4/6 correct on the “Multiplying Polynomials” worksheet Whole Class Did we meet today’s objective?

Homework Review Total Time: 2 minutes Take today’s homework Ask clarifying questions

Shout Outs Total Time: 3 minutes Take one post it from your bin and write A positive shout out to another student OR A way you used growth mindset (GM) today Example 1: “Shout out to Brandon for helping me understand how to graph.” Example 2: “I used GM today by trying to solve without a calculator even though I always use a calculator.”

Exit Ticket Total Time: 5 minutes

Quote of the Day 15 seconds Reflection Introduce the words monomials and polynomials. Have students guess 3x2 (poly or mono?) then play video Good idea to show video and practice monomial multiplication first. Good idea giving 1 minute to try right away, then have groups work together. Add problems on back for students who finish early (but don’t go over). Area model was good but WAAAY too hard. Only had time for students to work on it for 4 minutes (instead of 15) Worksheet needs to start with binomial multiplication). Have students advance to trinomials later. Too long of a model to do the 6 terms. Next year – have the monomial multiplication match up with the teacher model of the first binomial multiplication.
