We recognise the importance of ensuring that all our learners receive an appropriate and challenging level of education and a feeling of fulfilment and enrichment.. Aims: To prevent underachievement and ensure students have access to activities and teaching that challenge them accordingly To provide opportunities for students to work at higher cognitive levels To increase the number of students who continue to further education and beyond

We intend to raise aspiration and achievement by developing their: ability to learn Independent thinking range of knowledge core skills – e.g. problem solving creativitity intellectual curiosity research skills specific talents

Q. As a parent/carer what else can I do to support my child? A. Encourage him/her to….. discuss homework and school work take part in extra-curricular activities read for pleasure, including demanding, challenging books take regular physical exercise develop a healthy balance of school work and recreation time watch educational and current affairs programmes – news, documentaries visit museums, science centres, art galleries,use the local library as a learning and research resource

PCS Baccalaureate mission statement: To ensure able students make outstanding progress. These students should strive for academic excellence within a curriculum with appropriate challenge. They need to understand their potential from early in their school career and fulfil it within a caring and challenging environment. This will enable these students to have access to top providers in further and higher education, resulting in an increased range and quality of job opportunities. The overarching aim is to create learners who are aspirational role models for others within the school community and future professionals who will contribute to the wider community.
