Yourtutor.US The School of the Future!

The problem Students and adults from small cities want to take classes, but they do not have access to the best or in some cases to any teachers. People living in big cities have access to teachers, but they need to spend time for going to a physical classroom which is inefficient. Very often people use Skype. Skype has limited functions.

The solution  Our platform offers three modules: → a videoconference connection with a virtual white board on which students and a teacher can write, draw, and solve problems interactively at a real time. → a Learning Management System (LMS) → a module for creating content (video lessons)  The tools allow the teachers to teach any subject.  We use WebRTC and this puts us on a leading place in the world of e-learning in terms of technology.  The combination of the three module creates a virtual school – The school of the Future!

The Team The company has five shareholders (three founders) Kaloian Kirilov – he came up with the concept and the business model and is the CEO of the firm. Has over 15 years experience in financing, business development and is the founder of Synergy group – a leading Bulgarian M&A advisory firm; Svilen Radichkov is the CTO; he is providing several developers for the platform/software by subcontracting his own company Infinno Peter Petrov, Ivan Lessev and Polina Todorova – angel investors in the project We have also in the team a marketing person (digital marketing), a copywriter, a system administrator, and a teacher with over 10 years experience in e-learning;

The Market The learning and tutoring market is huge: e.g. only in the USA the tutoring market is estimated at 8-10 billion dollars, and only 2% spending of all educational spending is digital. Especially the European distance learning is behind the US and APAC market. Therefore the following segments are targeted in Europe: The online tutoring is just 5% of all tutoring but growing fast Add the school and the universities using LMS The market for content is even bigger but crowded

Competitors  This sector has been developing for the last 10 years so there are companies which offer online tutoring.  However, still most of them are just market places and they send the users to Skype.  In the content field there are many players and the closest one is Udemy  Our technology and virtual whiteboard are superior which allows us to have group tutoring sessions and to teach any subject. Not just languages, which is the easiest.  Since we have also an integrated LMS and a module where teacher can make their own video lessons we can offer a full service to the clients. Everything compares with a real school.

Traction  Participate in the Facebook’s accelerator – FB start  For 15 months in Bulgaria we have over 1100 tutors (1.5% of all teachers) and over 3000 registered users  In the USA we started at the end of November and we have >65 tutors with 1000 dollars invested.  In April we will launched in Germany and in Austria, where we have a JV with a partner and the web sites are www.tutorland.de and www.tutorland.at -> softlanding support needed  Won the first place award in the annual awards of B2B magazine for best educational project and the first place for best innovative startup company  Already have paying customers and revenues  We were shortlisted as a top three startups for the innovation award at BETT Asia  Participate in the Facebook’s accelerator – FB start

How will we make money?  The platform will charge a commission on every lesson taught on the platform.  We will have a monthly fee for each account which a teacher buys.  We can sell licenses to educational centers so they can offer online education as a shared service.  We can sell the infrastructure to third parties.  Teachers can sell the content (video lessons) they produce and we will get commission

Why will we succeed? We recognize the problem and the disadvantages of the competitors. Unlike a typical online tutoring platform we offer the complete service, which includes three modules and this creates the School of Future. The team consists of entrepreneurs who have succeeded in many projects so far and have proved that they can create profitable businesses. The five shareholders have created over 30 companies so far and most of them successfully. It is already happening. We have done it in Bulgaria and now starting in the USA and in Germany. We are looking for investors or JV partners in order to grow in other countries.
