The Contents: The Introduction An Interview with an Expert The Language Peculiarities The Usage of Formal and Informal Language The Logical Accents The Repeating The Conclusion The Video Presentation

The Aims and Purposes: I want to prove, that creating a musical is a very hard work I want to show you the results of analyzing the texts of musicals and show you the language peculiarities I found out in these texts I want to present my own piece of video work dedicated to musicals, proving I’ve experienced everything I said on my own

The List of Sources: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/musical https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew/Lloyd/Webber https://music.yandex.ru/artist/2757?from=serp http://jesuschristsuperstar.ru/base/jesuschristsuperstar_libretto http://koshkidarom.ru/cat-songstxt.php http://textpesni2.ru/textpesni.php?songlyrics=11823251

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dancing.

An Interview with a Musical Expert Is it hard to write a song without having a definite storyline? Why do you think, songs are divided into the verses and choruses? How do you manage to rhyme the words in a song and stick to a plot at the same time?  And etc.

Formal and Informal Language I want to demonstrate the examples of usage of formal and informal language, analyzing the text of the the most successful and commonly known musical – The Phantom of the Opera.

The Lyrics of the Song “Prima Donna” Carlotta & Piangi Abbandonata! Deseredata! O, sventurata! Madame Giry The angel sees, the angel hears Raoul Where did she go? Carlotta You have rebuked me! Andre & Firmin Signora, pardon us You have replaced me Aandre & Firmin Please Signora we beseech you

Carlotta: You have rebuked me! Andre & Firmin: Signora, pardon us You have replaced me Please Signora we beseech you

Carlotta & Piangi Abbandonata! Disgraziata!

The Stresses To demonstrate you the phrases in the song the script writer draws attention to, I have chosen another very successful musical “Jesus Christ Super Star ".

The Text of the Song “Try not to Get Worried” Judas: Woman, your fine ointment, brand new and expensive Could have been saved for the poor. Why has it been wasted? We could have raised maybe Tree hundred silver pieces or more. People who are hungry, people who are starving They matter more than your feet and hair.   Mary Magdalene: Try not to get worried, try not to turn on to Problems that upset you, oh. Don't you know Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine, And we want you to sleep well tonight. Let the world turn without you tonight

Judas part: Woman, ointment, expensive Saved, poor Wasted, raised Silver, more Hungry, starving  Matter

Maria’s Part: Try not, worried, turn onto Problems, upset Know Alright, fine Well, sleep Let, Without you Get by, forget

Repeating musical " Cats ". To discuss the words’ repeating in Andrew Lloyd's Webber's musicals, I have chosen the song from the worldwide famous Broadway musical " Cats ".

The Lyrics of a song “Memory” Daylight    See the dew on the sunflower                And a rose that is fading                Roses whither away                Like the sunflower                I yearn to turn my face to the dawn               I am waiting for the day...               Midnight              Not a sound from the pavement              Has the moon lost her memory?            She is smiling alone           In the lamp light        The withered leaves collect at my feet              And the wind begins to moan                 Memory All alone in the moonlight I can smile at the old days I was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again Every streetlamp Seems to beat a fatalistic warning Someone mutters And the streetlamp gutters And soon it will be morning

The Introductory Words’ Repeating Daylight    See the dew on the sunflower                And a rose that is fading                Roses whither away                Like the sunflower                I yearn to turn my face to the dawn               I am waiting for the day...  ……             Daylight             I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I mustn't give in When the dawn comes Tonight will be a memory too And a new day will begin

The Sense of “Obligation” I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I mustn't give in

The Conclusion I looked through the texts of the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals and found out, what language specialties take place in each of the song.

Forget about feeling cool The biggest crash is coming soon The verse: You’re feeling great with friends amount, Your marks are bad, but does it mater? And if you’re tired of parents screams and shouts The tests will help you to get better! The bridge: The tests are possible to pass, But, You should study mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Esthetic, Read and learn, Repeat and practice, Wake up early, time for breakfast! Run to school, stay after lessons And be patient, calm and placid… (The chorus:) The verse: There’s nothing more important than a school And usual things in it deserve a respect It matters if you born to be a fool You haven’t been prepared for some aspects Forget about feeling cool The biggest crash is coming soon The chorus: For some reasons tests are always quite unpleasant Feeling sick with all you have to do But take it easy, Ups! I haven’t got the physics Done! That’s true! And it was pretty hard to do!
