Tonight We Will: Explain HS Graduation Requirements Go Over Registration Procedures 9th Grade Classes Collection Procedure Find out about Honors classes Answer Questions in the Gym
High School Schedule All Anoka-Hennepin High Schools are on the 5 period a day trimester schedule. Each one trimester class is worth .5 credit. 2 trimester classes can be taken in trimesters 1 and 2, 1 and 3, or 2 and 3. Classes will be designated as first half “A” and second half “B”.
What Does It Take to Graduate? 27 course credits with certain courses required- every 1 trimester class= .5 credit
Graduation Requirements English- 4 credits Science- 3 credits- 1.0 Science 9, 1.0 Chemistry, and 1.0 Biology Social Studies- 4 credits Math- 3 credits- lots of paths to get there: 1.0 Intermediate Algebra, 1.0 Geometry, .5 Advanced Algebra, .5 Statistics and Probability
Graduation Requirements, continued Physical Education- 1 credit Health- .5 credit Arts- 1 credit- see page 6 for options Remainder to get to 27 credits- 10.5 elective credits
Required Classes in Grade 9 1 Credit in English 9 Regular or Honors 1 Credit in SS 9 .5 Civics Regular or Honors AND .5 Geography or 1.0 AP Human Geography 1 Credit in Physical Science 9 Regular or Honors
Required Classes in Grade 9 .5 Credit in Physical Education I 1 or 1.5 Credit in Math- see pg 7 in Registration Guide Elective Credits Any Required Class that is failed needs to be repeated.

Math- special situations If you are coming from a non-Anoka Hennepin school be sure to check on correct math placement. Intermediate Algebra is the grade-level course and is not the same as Algebra I. Students who had Algebra I in grade 7 and Geometry in Grade 8 will still need an Intermediate Algebra course.

Registration Worksheet Transfer your choices to the worksheet. After Required classes there are spots available for electives. Electives give students the opportunity to explore interests/prepare for college. Choose 6 alternates.

Honors Classes Students may elect to take Honors classes. (English, SS, Math, Science) Usually strong A’s in same subject in Grade 8. Honors classes are more rigorous. Honors classes contribute to weighted GPA. Balance
