What is Hacking? Hackers will use your internet connection to get control of your computer. They can then do anything they want with your computer. Computer Hackers have been responsible for closing down the Microsoft corporation, stealing millions of pounds from banks, closing down websites and much, much more. Hackers hack just because they can!
Online Harassment This does not involve money. It is still against the Law and a crime. Bullying, Trolling and Slander can all carry a prison sentence. Harassing someone else means making them feel uncomfortable or upsetting them over and over again.
How to stay safe Make sure you have a legitimate antivirus Know that games, screensavers and software downloaded from the web can contain spyware. Have a really good password. If your computer slows down you have spyware. Before you give any of your details find out who wants it, why they want it and how they are going to keep it safe.
