Wednesday, September 28th Hello, class! Welcome to another Wednesday in 317. Your homework (which is due Friday) is to look up your grade in this class on parent portal. If you do not have access to internet at home, we will discuss an alternative homework. Why we are here today: To apply the elements of fiction to the stories that we read on Monday

Exposition Main Characters: The painter lady (Annimikelly); Lou; Narrator (tyler) Minor Characters: hattie and freida Morris; Side pocket; jimmy lyons- died in the Vietnam; mama; daddy; grandmamma; mr. eubanks Setting: Late 60s early 70s; southern inner city, USA- Taliaferro street

Rising Action The painter lady is not from the neighborhood The morris twins offer suppah; painter lady seems to ignore at first, then turns away from it and says she already ate- does thank mrs. Morris Goes to eat in mama’s restaurant; claims to be starving; picky eater Watching the news and the kids spot graffiti on a subway; that’s what they plan to do to the wall Buy epoxy paint and head to the wall

Climax They get to the wall and it is awesome. It represents the community and central figures to the community’s culture.

Resolution The painter lady is actually jimmy lyons’ cousin, and she dedicated the wall to his honor

Be the Teach With a partner, develop three, multiple choice, quiz style questions from The story we reviewed today. Each question must have four responses, and must ask about an important part of the story. Not a good question: On what page does the main character chuckle? How many hands does the main character have? Where’s waldo?
