Noelle Gambale Hora 1 Day 5 Hestia Noelle Gambale Hora 1 Day 5
Overview Greek Name: Hestia Latin Name: Vesta Parentage: Her parents are Cronus and Rhea, she was their first child. Sphere of Influence: Hestia had domination mostly over the hearth and the home. Attributes: home, hearth, flame, kettle, Birthplace: Crete Favored Place: the house or home
Ancient Art I choose this ancient picture of Hestia because I think it shows exactly who Hestia is in the way of the ancient Romans. It shows her in a homey environment with people and gifts which was what she was basically known for. There is food and cooking which she was skilled at, especially bread making. She also took a place at the royal hearth which is represented here. That is why I choose this picture.
Modern Art I’m using this modern day painting of Hestia because like the ancient Roman picture it represents Hestia, but it also has a modern day flare. It shows Hestia sitting directly in the home which was her domain. In the corner there is bread in a basket which is one thing she was supposedly skilled at making. The house is shown with a kettle which was an attribute and symbol of hers. That is why I choose this picture.
