2016/9/30 Yasuhiro Sugimoto @ILC Infra/CFS mini-ws ILD assembly timeline 2016/9/30 Yasuhiro Sugimoto @ILC Infra/CFS mini-ws

Boundary conditions Detector assembly and commissioning should be completed in 9 years Assembly Hall (AH) on surface becomes available in Q3 (Aug.) of Y3 Platform over vertical shaft in AH becomes available in Q2 of Y4 Detector Hall (DH) underground becomes available in Q3 (Aug.) of Y7 SiD is lowered to DH in Y7-Q3 to Y8-Q1 ILD is lowered to DH in Y8-Q2 to Y8-Q3 after SiD (New assumptions) Magnet full current test should be done before barrel calorimeter installation Solenoid outer vacuum tank (OVT) is built outside YB0 yoke, and inserted to YB0 as a cylinder (Richard’s plan)

A possible solution

Comparison with previous plan Shorter yoke construction period Earlier start of Muon/Endcap CAL installation Shorter Solenoid construction period Previous timeline New timeline

Timeline for each ring

Timeline for solenoid OVT and coil are assembled and installed using swiveling platform successively (CMS:OVT was assembled directly on the YB0) IVT is assembled aside the swiveling platform, and moved to the swiveling platform for installation Period for coil assembly on-site is shortened from 30 mo to 16 mo Starts 10 mo later due to tool preparation/test (ignored before) and OVT construction and installation Completed 4 mo earlier to make magnet full current test possible before barrel CAL installation The timeline is somewhat tight, but still looser (?) than that of CMS CMS: 5 modules, ILD: 3+4(DID) modules (?)

Longer term timeline

Swiveling platform ~14m ~4m (In case of ILD) ~14m

Swiveling platform

Swiveling platform

Garage in AH Size of the garage (alcove) of Assembly hall should be enlarged Swiveling platform requires large space during swiveling Position of the swiveling platform is shifted One more yoke ring exists before Coil/IVT installation YB0 with OVT has to be stored in the garage to keep enough space for other yoke assembly and detector installation Space for cryogenic system on surface YB0 in garage 15m 25m Before After 15m 10m

Open questions Iron yoke rings should be assembled in ~6 months/ring Is it feasible? What is the size of pre-assembly hall needed for construction of iron blocks? DID options (No DID or integrated into 3 solenoid modules is favorable from mechanical point of view) Feasibility of DID manufacturing Is the timeline for solenoid (+DID) construction acceptable for manufacturer?  Toshiba will study Space and time requirements for the cryogenic system for solenoid in Assembly Hall on surface Installation method for endcap muon detector (particularly bottom part) Do we need a pit for installation in AH (and DH)?
