Lead & Support Tutor Lead tutor is the first and main point of contact between Academy & home. Mentoring All students mentored 3 times per year in a 20 min session Students can discuss anything about their Cabot experience in privacy.

Y7 Groupings Community groups – the students sitting in the same room as you now are all in the same community. You will also all be in the same Practical Group for Science and Technology. Tutor Groups – These are vertical and are made up of about 5 students from each year group. Teaching Groups – These are mixed so that there is a variety of abilities, primary schools and gender in each class. There will be an average of 27 students in each teaching group. You will be taught in teaching groups for subjects like English, Maths, Humanities, Expressive Arts and MFL. Some subjects like Maths will set according to ability.

Absences & Holidays Please contact the Academy on FIRST day of child being ill via phone (0117 9763000, then select option 2) Absence without reason will be chased automatically by a truancy call Please do not take holidays during term time – such absences will not be authorised. Please write to the Principal if you need to request any time off during term time. Term dates can be found on the Academy website

Lockers All students will be given a locker on arrival at Cabot. They will keep this locker for the duration of their time here. Students should only access lockers at the beginning or end of the day, at break time and lunch time. This year students will be given a brand new locker – each student will need to bring in £2 for a key. It is a good idea for students to bring a key-ring on the first day

Catering cards The canteen is a ‘cashless’ system. Students will be given a card at the start of term. Students need to credit their account in order to purchase food - Cash can be put into a machine in reception. If you prefer you can pay by cheque. Please make these payable to ‘Sodexo’ and write the student’s name on the back. If you lose your card – don’t panic. You can still make purchases by giving your name or card no at the till. A replacement card costs £3 All students will receive a free lunch on the first day – Friday 24th August
