Short Term and Long Term Goals Ask students to think about the difference between long-term and short-term goals. Today we’ll be considering the steps in achieving a simple goal: Getting your Drivers License. You may not realize how many steps it takes to get this thing that so many people in our country have.   2. Pass out Lesson 9-6 Handout #1 “Getting your Drivers License”.

Put the following steps to getting your license in correct order. Pass Drivers Education Course Exams Make appointment for Driver Licensing Test Receive Instruction Permit Complete 50 hours of practice driving with someone who’s been licensed 5 years or more (including 10 hours at night) Drive Solo! Apply for Driver Education Course Turn 15 ½ Pay for Application and Driver License Issuance Fees ($89) Receive your Driver License Attend Drivers Education Course (30 hours) Turn 16 Apply for Instruction Permit Pay for Driver Licensing Test ($45) Take Driver License written exam (Knowledge test) Take Driver License driving test (Skills) Pass Knowledge and Skills Tests for Driver License Pay for Driver Education Course ($300-$600) Complete 6 hours of practice drives with Course Instructor Give students time to complete the worksheet by putting the steps to getting your Driver License in order.

Receive your Driver License 17. Turn 16 18. Drive Solo! Reveal the answer slide, field any questions, and discuss any misconceptions. It should be noted that the list assumes you have NO driving infractions during the training process. Also of note: Many automobile insurance companies offer a discount for good grades! (The above steps are for Washington State license.)
