Solar modules production line modernization Prolog Semikor, LTD

Project Goal Modernization of solar modules production line to enable production of highly effective solar modules with 4 contact tracks. Development of alternative power technologies in Ukraine. Production of devices and equipment used in solar power technologies. Implementing hi-tech production processes. 3. Creating up to 10 new jobs.

Project Description According to the Association of Alternative Energy and Fuel Market Participants in Ukraine’s analysis, the annual volume of solar modules’ installation has reached 100-200 MW/yr recently and is expected to grow up to 500 MW/yr. According to the Government of Ukraine’s programs, the share of alternative energy power plants is expected to reach at least 5 GW by 2020. Today’s market shows growing demand for highly efficient solar modules. Ukrainian market of solar modules is filled mainly with Chinese products that have about 17% of efficiency.

Product Description Highly efficient solar modules with photoelectric convertors and 4 contact tracks. The rate of efficiency equals not less than 17.5% Reaching 30 MW/yr volume of production

Investment project provides: - Solar modules production line modernization on Prolog Semikor LTD to enable production of highly effective solar modules with 4 contact tracks; - Monocrystalline silicon growth equipment modernization and reaching the 10% rate of radial variation or resistivity and concentration of oxygen impurities, as well as increasing ingot diameter to 220 mm.

Present production process description Today’s solar module production line consists of: a) 200 mm monocrystalline silicon ingots production Ingots are grown on 27 growth furnaces that allow the max diameter of 200 mm

Present production process description b) production of photoelectric convertors, in cooperation with JA Solar (China)

Present production process description c) Producing solar modules from photoelectric convertors: - automatic compounding into single circuit - placing circuits inside laminate plates on isolated glass sheets - polymerization process and creating multilayer structures - framing the plates with aluminum - connecting the plates to bypass diode junction box

Present production process description Known limitations of production process: max number of contact tracks: 3 max efficiency of production line: not more than 10 MW max efficiency of solar modules: 16,9%

Technical description Changes to be implemented to the production process: a) Modernizing the process of production and increasing diameter of ingots to 220 mm will enable increasing the total area of 156x156 mm solar modules by 5%. b) Modernization of solar modules production line to achieve production of 4 contact tracks modules, increase their size to 2000x1000 sq. mm, and increasing production power to 30 MW

Indicators of project’s efficiency Project budget: Modernization of silicon ingots production line: €200,000 Modernization of solar modules production line €150,000 3. Forming technology of production and producing pilot batch: €250,000 Total budget: €600,000
