Factoring Polynomials by Grouping Algebra 1 Lesson 87 Factoring Polynomials by Grouping

Factoring Polynomials by Grouping Polynomials can be factored by grouping. When a polynomial has four terms, make two groups and factor out the greatest common factor from each group.

Example 1 Factor 2x2 + 4xy + 7x + 14y

Example 2 Factor 3y2 – 8y3 – 8y + 3. Check your answer.

Example 3 Factor 45a3b – 15a3 + 15a2b – 5a2. Check your answer.

Example 4 Factor 3a2b – 18a + 30 – 5ab completely. Check your answer.

Example 5 x2 – 7x – 44 6k2 – 17k + 10
