Standard Form for a Quadratic Where a,b, and c are real numbers, and a does not equal zero. Example: We’re going to solve this by factoring!

Zero product property If AB=0, then A=0 or B=0 So if (x+1)(x – 5) = 0, then… x + 1 = 0 or x – 5 = 0 These x-values represent ________________ on the graph of the quadratic function.

Solve by Factoring First, get the function in STANDARD FORM. Then, use the “ac that adds to b” method to find the x – intercepts for the quadratic function.
