Digital Television (DTV) Transition Update May 14, 2009

DTV Transition Referrals From Broadcasters to FCC The FCC expects broadcasters to refer calls to the FCC Call Center when a caller asks questions about anything other than their ability to receive the broadcaster’s station(s), such as: Converter Box Coupons Transition Statistics Information About DTV Installing a Converter Box How to Buy a DTV The FCC will refer calls about reception issues back to local stations

DTV Transition FCC Call Center FCC Call Center Agents will troubleshoot incoming viewer calls, exhausting all relevant FCC resources to issues like: Channel Scanning and re-scanning Check Connections Antenna Selection & Adjustments If these do not fix the problem, agents are instructed to offer to refer callers to the station whose signal is not being received Second, if a caller specifically asks for a station’s contact information, the Agent will provide the contact phone number that is available in CDBS (as entered by the Broadcaster)

DTV Transition DTV.GOV: Call Center Resource The FCC Call Center Agents (both internal and external) use the DTV.gov website to trouble-shoot callers’ problems or to find local events or community assistance. DTV Transition DTV Outreach Special new web site for the voluntary reporting of detailed information regarding opportunities for face-to-face DTV education https://dtvsupport.fcc.gov/broadcaster-s Once you have accessed the DTV Outreach site, login with your Username(FRN) and Password Your Username and Password is from the FCC CORES System The Home tab shows all Events and Efforts you have previously submitted, if any The New sub tab displays Events and Efforts awaiting review The Approved sub tab displays FCC-approved Events and Efforts The Rejected sub tab shows FCC-rejected Events and Efforts The Duplicate sub tab shows Events and Efforts that have been entered more than once for the same Event or Effort.

DTV Transition DTV Outreach The Search tab allows you to search through current and past Outreach records Click on the down arrow to select a service type To narrow search results the user can enter in the Service Consumer ID Fill out the Type(s) and Topic(s) on the and/or the Submitted Date The New Service tab allows you to create a new Consumer Outreach Effort (on-going) or Consumer Outreach Event (one-time) Outreach Effort: Please submit a separate entry for each type of outreach If your Event Organizer doesn’t appear, check other This information will be provided in dtv.gov and provided by call center agents Enter a number consumers can contact you for information Fill out the location name where the service is being provided Complete remaining data entry and click “SUBMIT”
