Transition Problems Program structures for the first professional degrees Bachelor and Diploma programs in parallel “Fachhochschule” versus university Language e.g. Europe = 40 countries + 32 main languages
Accreditation Systems Example Austria: Public Universities programs, developed by the universities and accepted by the Federal Ministry Private Universities Austrian Accreditation Council Institutional Accreditation, including the accreditation of programs Fachhochschulen The ”Fachhochschul-Council” (3 Austrian, 5 international) Accreditation of programs

IEEE EAB Committee on Global Accreditation Activities
Potential Activities Organize and conduct regional accreditation workshops When invited Work with government agencies, national societies and/or IEEE sections to establish accreditation systems and accrediting bodies
Potential Activities – cont’d Coordinate IEEE participation in ABET international activities including Identifying and screening potential ABET international program evaluators Supporting participation of IEEE volunteers in ABET international consultation visit and ABET substantial equivalency visits
Potential Activities – cont’d Organize local focused workshops for representatives from government, academe and industry who may participate in accreditation development Provide assistance in Developing the structure of the body, Developing criteria Training team chairs and program evaluators
Potential Activities – cont’d Coordinate IEEE participation in accreditation activities with existing accrediting organizations worldwide Provide program consultations to programs in Regions 8, 9, and 10
