General attempts to be diplomatic were necessary and well-intended Expanded for exports  more money through the US economy Doc 8 Stagflation negatively impacted economics of the middle class Iran Hostage Crisis  Americans taken hostage by students -> failed to appropriately take action to protect Americans National Energy Act  didn’t actually curb dependence in foreign oil, gas prices GO UP!
