Your pack We have provided the following: Contact detail of HOY, DOL and SLT. Information on Expectations, Attendance & Punctuality. Action Plan to be completed by your child. Form time activities plan. Intervention sessions timetable. Home study timetable. Option subject information. All information from this evening can be accessed on the school website via the Year 9 scene setting link in the Parent’s section and the Year 9 information page.

Roles in the Year Group Mr. Kershaw – Head of Year. Pastoral and day-to-day needs of the year group. Mrs. Whealing – Director of Learning. Academic needs of the year group. Mr. Gillmon – Senior Leadership Team. Oversight of the year group.

Your role as a GCSE parent Partner with the school – working closely with teachers. Sounding board. Project manager – including organisation and checking bags and pockets. Be the banker – rewards for hard work. Negotiator. Ensuring contact details are correct.

Excuses “My work is on the computer as school!” “I can do it tomorrow!” “We didn’t get any homework!” “I’ve got loads of time!” Keep a track of the excuses – days, times, subjects. Agree on solutions Follow up – use calendars/planners for agreed changes. Remote desktop & LRC. If in doubt, contact school.

Priorities Attendance and punctuality – get pupils in school. Informing us of changes at home Checks for homework and communication from school. Deadlines on a calendar at home. Support attendance of intervention sessions. Agreements on social media. Relaxed environment for home study
