Presentation transcript:

June: Men’s Health Month Men’s Health Month is to increase awareness of preventable health issues and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases among men and boys. 12.1% of men 18 years and over are in fair or poor health due to a lack of understanding of men's health issues, lack of open conversation about health, and stigmas surrounding mental health. Importance Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-35 years old. There are 8,820 newly diagnosed testicular cancer cases annually contributing to the 380 lives lost each year. 1 in 36 men will die from prostate cancer accounting for 22% of death in men making It the most common non-skin cancer in the U.S.

Information found at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention African American men are 60% more likely to develop the disease compared to Caucasian men. It’s estimates that approximately $11.9 billion is spent on prostate cancer treatment. More than four times as many men die by suicide in the United States than women. Information found at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, also a retired four-star general in the United States Army, underwent surgery to remove a cancerous prostate gland in 2003 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Since then, he has become a vocal supporter of prostate cancer awareness

Your Support Matters Teaming up with Incite to create a campaign will help educate the public about men’s health, and start the conversation about early detection. By connecting your brand with the movement to spread awareness in [CITY NAME], you can inspire change and demonstrate your commitment to improving the overall health of our communities.

A successful cause marketing campaign that supports men’s health is Movember, and with the support of Cox Enterprise 2014 it was the largest contribution yet. Cox Enterprise donated $1.7 million to the Movember Foundation in support of men’s health initiatives. The Cox Movember network includes more than 1,600 employees, vendors, partners and friends. "Our Chairman Jim Kennedy was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year," said Cox Enterprises President and CEO John Dyer. "While Jim's prognosis is good, it brings to light the need for education and funds to support men's health. Jim and his family have always demonstrated an immense passion for Cox and its employees, and it's in that same spirit that we launched Movember at Cox."
