Teacher-centred Instruction Independent Learning Science Lesson 1 Physics Electromagnetism Teacher-centred Instruction Independent Learning The teacher introduces the subject in a Power Point presentation about electromagnetism The teacher explains the way how pupils will work in groups and gives advices when pupils work in groups The teacher shows the results of a working electromotor and discusses the questions of the workshop The pupils listen to the teacher and make notes of the introduction The pupils read the instructions how to make a electromotor Cooperative Learning The pupils do some tests together and answer the questions of the workshop The pupils discuss the outcomes together The ppupils reflect on the outcomes and the way of learning together Project Based Learning The pupils work in groups of 4/5 persons constructing an electromotor classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P

T I C P 0 – 15 The teacher does the introductory presentation Teacher centered Independent Cooperative Project based 0 – 15 The teacher does the introductory presentation 15 – 25 Then the first workshop is being introduced by the teacher 25 – 45 The students work it out according to the workshop paper in groups. The students must also fill out the questions of the workshop that take some experimenting to complete 45 – 50 Short brake classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P

Teacher centered Independent Cooperative Project based 50 – 80 The students now continue with the second part of the workshop, making the electromotor. It takes some efforts and some will need the full time 80 – 85 Also there are some questions that need to be answered. The teacher is needed to help out by assisting and giving advice 85 – 95 The teacher briefly shows to the whole class at least one working electromotor and after that discusses the questions of the workshop 95 – 100 The teacher and students discuss the way of working and learning together classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P

Starting Position T I C P Teacher centered Independent Cooperative Project based Starting Position   The students know only a little about the the theory of electromagnetism The teacher takes the lead in introducing the subject and gives the students advices how to build an electromotor The instructions in the copies of the student papers are clear enough for most students to perform this classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P

Conditions T I C P For first part of the workshop: Teacher centered Independent Cooperative Project For first part of the workshop: batteries (D types, see pictures in workshop file), tape, coated copper wire, iron nail, sand paper, metal containing small objects (like paperclips) For second part of the workshop: batteries (D types), tape, coated copper wire , normal (uncoated or electric isolated) copper wire, magnets (small round magnets) The answers to the questions should be easily answered by any physics or general science teacher classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P

Teacher centered Independent Cooperative Project Reflection The teacher shows at least one working electromotor to encourage the joy of the students with the outcome of their task The teacher discusses with the students the answers of their questions The teacher and the students reflect on the method of working and learning together in international groups classical independent cooperative reflective persevering responsible T I C P
