Presentation transcript:

What did we learn last month? Strategic Doing Question 3: What will we do together? What did we learn last month? An action plan sets out sets out who will do what by when. It outlines a set of transparent, simple commitments. On this sheet transfer your action list items from last month that should be complete by now, and use this sheet for team members to report in. Some results mean you just move forward. Others mean you need to adjust. Both are successes! Action Step Who was responsible? Results/learning? What now? Example: make list of makerspaces Barb We’ve identified a list of 15 makerspaces within a 2-hour drive. Pick 4 and reach out to see if we can visit. Meet with principal to share plan; ask her to join trip Scott We met, but she says she doesn’t have time. Make a video of what we see to get her more invested?

Draft an action plan for the next 30 days Strategic Doing Question 3: What will we do together? Draft an action plan for the next 30 days Now write an action plan for the next period of time. Some items from last month may have slipped, and some may not seem relevant any more. Add anything new that’s needed. Remember to make sure that everyone has something to do. Action Step Who is responsible? By when? Example: recruit university student to help with video John October 1 Email 4 places we’d like to visit to see if our upcoming prof. dev. day might work for a visit. Clara September 28 As your project starts to roll out, consider two new kinds of activity and add action steps if needed: 1) sharing your success so far; 2) recruiting new people to get involved (sharing your success should lead to these kinds of opportunities). If your team feels that this strategic outcome or Pathfinder Project no longer makes sense, start over with your “what could we do?” list and identify a new direction (slides 1-5). If the issue is follow-through, discuss whether you need to scale back or slow down your plan – the strategic outcome is probably still applicable; it will just take longer to get there.

Summary of our new plan (date: _________) Describe our outcome: And how we’ll know if you succeed: Characteristic 1: Metric 1: Characteristic 2: Metric 2: Characteristic 3: Metric 3: What did we learn this month? Describe our Pathfinder Project: And its guideposts: Date Guidepost 1: Guidepost 2: Guidepost 3: Outline our action plan: Who Does what? Which of these best describes your team?  We’re working our plan and progress is coming along.  We’ve hit some road bumps and have had to make some adjustments, but our strategic outcome and project are still the same.  We’ve decided to make major changes to our outcome and/or project.
