STUDENTS’ REQUIREMENTS THIRD YEAR STANDING STUDENTS MUST HAVE FULFILLED AT LEAST 90 CREDITS IN SEMESTER 2, 2012/2013. STUDENTS WITH LESS CREDIT MUST APPEAL TO UNDERGO THE EIT.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO Get the application form (after this briefing), fill in and submit to EIT Unit, Level 2, E0. Please attach your photo, partial transcript and resume. WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO 3. Go to EIT website (http://www.iium.edu.my/eit/alpha/), Register for username and password for utilizing the EIT website. 4. When application is approved, fill in the online Shortlisted Company Form (New) from the EIT Website, and you can collect your supporting letter from EITU 7 - 14 days after.

List of Companies Approved and Endorsed existing companies can be accessed from the Website. Also the companies listed in the FMM Directory will be assessable from the website, BUT the company from this list must be endorsed first. Consult your PC.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO Apply for (Live off Campus / Live in During Vacation) - Write your name, Matric number and Mahallah in the form at the EIT Counter. EITU will forward this letter to Mahallah. Attend the pre-departure briefing and Buy your log book PERFORM THE EIT

DURING EIT… Submit your Information Card online OR to EITU by email/fax/post after 1 week of report duty. Know your company (org. structure) and the activity of Company (Main Product or services) Involve yourself with business or technical activities (mfg of parts, installation, design, improvement, new component, maintenance, etc..)

DURING EIT… Ask for project Document all activities in your log book daily (detailed documentation) Ensure that you are supervised by an engineer or researcher Be proactive Identify Potential Projects FYP.

DURING EIT- PROGRESS REPORT IN THE LOG BOOK Write down all experiences and activities you have done during the training periodically in the LOG BOOK.

DURING EIT - EIT VISIT EIT Visit period: 5/8/13 – 30/8/13 Depending on the Kulliyyah budget, it may or may not be full visit to all companies. Assigned Visiting supervisor/lecturer will communicate with the students on where and when to visit you. Students are responsible to make any necessary arrangement (e.g. Inform your supervisor, preparation, etc). It is compulsory to do presentation. To those who are not visited, the presentation will be done after the completion of EIT.

DURING EIT – COMPANY SUPERVISOR’S ASSESSMENT Your company supervisor will assess your performance and code of conducts during your training. Your supervisor will give his/her report to the visiting lecturer using the Supervisor’s Evaluation Form, which can be downloaded from the Website and LOGBOOK

DURING EIT - LEAVES Only 6 days of leaves including emergency and medical leave are allowed. Any application for leave must be made directly through the company. Students are requested to fill in the leave form which can be downloaded form EIT website and submit to EIT unit immediately.

AFTER EIT – SUBMISSION Students who are not visited, the schedule of presentation at the Kulliyyah will be made by PC. EIT Final Report, Log Book, Student Survey must be submitted immediately when the new semester 1 2012/2013 begins. (16/9/13) Final report should be in TWO FORMS: 1 - hard cover bound (Black color) with golden colored writing 2 - softcopy form, in a CD. The format is available at the EIT Website

Student Survey Can be assessed ONLINE from the https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dDZyQkFJLWY2TURiRHItQkJTVjJydWc6MQ OR obtain from the LOG BOOK.

IMPORTANT ISSUE - CHANGE OF EIT PLACEMENT No change of placement will be allowed and entertained UNLESS - You are mistreated badly at the current placement – PLEASE REPORT IMMEDIATELY!!! - You are given tasks which are totally not relevant to a trainee engineer. Please CONTACT and consult your PC.

IMPORTANT ISSUE - EIT PLACEMENT Please work hard to find the placement, there are thousands companies in the lists! You are not allowed to do the EIT at the end of the study since the EIT is now the pre-requisite for FYP2!!

IMPORTANT ISSUE - SAFETY Please observe your safety, safety procedure and attire at all time, according to the company’s code of conduct. All students are insured with TAKAFUL MALAYSIA under the university ‘s Group Insurance

IMPORTANT ISSUE SHOW good AKHLAK to represent IIUM NO misbehavior during EIT or risk to FAIL EIT upon getting complain from the company. Follow the dress code, the company rules and regulations, accordingly.
