Welcome to Our Library Hamblen’s Library is a place you come for class once a week but you can also come by yourself. I will give you an introduction to our library and the basic rules. If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.
All About Me My Background I grew up in California I graduated from Arizona State University. My Experience I’ve been teaching for many years. I have been an instructional course I have taught grades 1,2, and 3. I have been a librarian for 12 years. I like the diversity of my job in the library.

Goals To give you the tools you need to progress and be life long library users. To provide a supportive learning environment and a place to come where you can make new discoveries. To have fun while we learn. To make new friends and discover new interests.
Some Things We Will Learn. We will be exposed to a wide variety of different kinds of literature. We will learn about technology and how it applies to us as life long learners. We will work on projects in different academic areas. Most of these projects will be projects that you will work on in your classroom and in the library, too.

Award Winning Literature We will be exposed to literature that has won awards. We will also be exposed to many kinds of literature. We will be given time to choose literature to read. We will also be given opportunities to reflect on what you read.

Research We will work on learning more about many different subjects by doing research using print and non print material. We will become research detectives so that we can find answers to the questions we have about almost anything.
Computers and Technology We will use computers and learn a variety of strategies and skills in the library, lab and our classroom.

Library Class Rules Come in quietly and move the green light next to your name on the SMART board. Sit in your assigned seat or on the story steps as directed. Listen to the lesson and follow directions the first time you are asked. Be a good citizen If you are warned for inappropriate behavior you will be asked to change your light on the SMART board. Check out books quietly or read quietly at your seat. Leave the library quietly when your teacher picks you up.

Check Out Policy Student in grades 4-6 may check out three items. Students will be given the opportunity to checkout during their library class. Students can also checkout independently anytime that their teacher sends them with a pass. There is an independent checkout clipboard on the checkout desk. Checkout privileges are suspended when students have overdue books or magazines.

Homework Students will not be given a lot of homework. Parents are encouraged to make sure their students set aside time every night to read or be read to. Students should always have a book in their back pack.
