By adding particles that reflect certain wavelengths of light which are invisible to us but still radiate heat, the surface will not have the same build-up of temperature as a non-treated surface. A black treated material reflects more than 60% of radiance heat. Treated materials appear dark to the eye but light to the wavelengths we cannot see.
