Background For many years, IT organizations across campus have provided outstanding classroom service and support to faculty within their respective colleges. As part of a recent technology review process, faculty communicated the need for a consistent approach to classroom technology and support across the enterprise. In response, a draft vision and project plan has been developed for the support of instructor-led learning spaces and your input is essential!

Learning Spaces Project Team Responsibilities Oversight of technologies used in scheduled, instructor-led learning spaces, including: Classrooms, StudioIT labs, Testing Centers, and related learning spaces. NOTE: General purpose and discipline-specific computing labs and facilities will continue to be supported by IT professionals reporting to IT-Client Services The design, installation, implementation, and service of new classroom technology, including new building and renovation projects The selection and use of appropriate remote classroom support tools and systems Response to calls for assistance from faculty actively teaching in and using learning spaces Equipment inventory Participate in the development of training on technology use Technical and user documentation UNI classroom technology web site
Learning Spaces Project Team Recommendations At the conclusion of the project, the team will be asked to submit recommendations addressing: An effective support structure and size of a dedicated, permanent support team Which IT unit should provide this service going forward Classroom technology standards Support Response Model procedures Additional observations and lessons learned
Support Response Model Response Overview: Support telephone # (x5555, press #1) Calls directed to Learning Spaces Support Team Learning Spaces Support Team Specialist evaluates the issue and dispatches a first responder Remote Support Services: Key technologies will reside on the campus network Software will be selected and implemented to remotely configure, proactively monitor and support technologies
The Learning Spaces Support Team will offer: Training & Support The Learning Spaces Support Team will offer: Face-to-face, hands-on technology training opportunities to faculty and staff A comprehensive support web site will be developed, offering an array of videos, quick reference guides, and other training and/or support materials.
