What could you give this Christmas? Swaziland – February 2017 What could you give this Christmas?

SZ17 This February The Ilfracombe Academy are sending out a team of 20 students (Years 9-13) to Africa. We will be living and working with the Swazi community on both education and conservation projects. We will be immersed in one of the poorest countries/communities in the world. The team will meet a number of students that Ilfracombe directly sponsor.

The Spirit Of Giving Think about what you could give…… We have over 160kg of baggage allowance designated entirely to our donations. We live in one of the most economically stable countries in the world – every Xmas we buy into the spirit of giving and presents are exchanged….. Do we really need EVERY gift we receive? Do we have things that we take for granted? Things that we don’t need? Things that simply sit in a drawer unused? These items could make a MASSIVE difference to children in Swaziland. See the following slide for potential donations…………………

SZ17 Collection In order to collect for this years trip, a large CHARITY CRATE will be housed in the foyer by reception for the next 2 months. We are aiming to fill our 160 kg baggage allowance with our donations. Please think about what you could give – looking at the previous lists, it could be big, it could be small, but it WILL MAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE to the lives of people less fortunate than you. Staff, parents and students alike are being set the challenge to fill our donation box to ensure that SZ17 is the most successful and ‘giving’ trip ever. We need to fulfil our school values of KINDNESS, RESPONSIBILITY, INTEGRITY & HOPE.

Challenge What can your tutor group collect? Set yourself a goal….. Can you collect 10 items per group? Or perhaps 20? Could you donate 2- 3 items from each category? Reflect on what you don’t need. Think about what they do need.

What can you give this year?
