Photoshop Quick Fixes: How To remove Dark circles and red eye

DARK CIRCLES Let’s start with dark circles. This is the image I have right now (that’s me!) As you can see, my dark circles are pretty prominent. How do I remove them using Photoshop?

First, press Ctrl+J to make a copy of your background layer First, press Ctrl+J to make a copy of your background layer. This should pop up in your Layers panel.

First, zoom in on the image to make it easier for you to see the exact places to correct. Next, click on the Stamp Tool. Once you’ve clicked on it, change the mode from “Normal” to “Lighten”. When we select “Lighten”, we tell the stamp tool to only affect the pixels that are darker than the surrounding area.

Next, change the Opacity to 16% and the Flow to 19% Next, change the Opacity to 16% and the Flow to 19%. This will make the image look a lot more natural, and the correction of your dark circles won’t look as harsh.

Now, use the brush to go over all the dark spots you’d like to erase (essentially, just paint over the dark circles). The end result should look something like this:

RED EYE In this picture, you can definitely see Ms. Petr’s pets having red-eye. Let’s learn how to remove the red-eye from the picture. We’ll focus on the dog that’s on the upper left.

Once you’ve opened your image, head on over to the Spot Healing Tool and click on the Red Eye tool.

It’s a little difficult to see because the dog’s fur is black, but there is a dashed box around the eye. Zoom in on the image so you can see the red eye clearly. Using the Red Eye tool, drag a box around the eye with your cursor and release the cursor. This should lighten the effect of the red eye.

Continue this process of selecting the area around the eye and using the red eye tool until you see no more red eye.
