A Level Computing Course Description A 2 year course designed to develop a sound theoretical background, as well as, relevant skills in various aspects of computing Year 1 (AS) covers hardware and communication, software, system development. It also looks at analysis, design, software development, documentation, testing and evaluation of a system, leading to a solution to a given problem. Year 2 (A2) looks at widening the knowledge base and focusing deeper on the aforementioned areas. Exam Board WJEC Entry Requirements Six GCSE passes at Grade A to C

A Level ICT Course Description A 2 year course aiming to develop an understanding of the effects and limitations of ICT and of the new opportunities it provides within organisations and society. It will also develop practical skills in problem solving in the wider sense. Year One (AS) looks at information systems and presenting information. Year Two (A2) covers the use and impact of ICT and looks at undertaking a project on relational databases. Exam Board WJEC Entry Requirements Six GCSE passes at Grade A to C

Level Two Diploma in IT Course Description There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs. Some learners may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a Level 3 programme Exam Board BTEC Entry Requirements A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or an Introductory Diploma in ICT at Merit/Distinction plus interview. Career Prospects Learners can progress onto other Higher Level qualifications in ICT or secure employment in a range of business and ICT organisations

Level One Diploma in IT Course Description This course enables learners to develop their understanding and practical skills through looking at how ICT is used in industry and commerce using a range of software applications, and through looking at jobs that involve working with ICT. Exam Board BTEC Entry Requirements A minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grades E & F and interview. Career Prospects The Introductory Diploma can stand as a basic qualification in ICT by itself. It can also be used as a basis for progression onto other further education courses. It can also be used to progress onto the First Diploma in ICT for Practitioners.
