A Level Computing Course Description A 2 year course designed to develop a sound theoretical background, as well as, relevant skills in various aspects of computing Year 1 (AS) covers hardware and communication, software, system development. It also looks at analysis, design, software development, documentation, testing and evaluation of a system, leading to a solution to a given problem. A Level ICT Course Description A 2 year course aiming to develop an understanding of the effects and limitations of ICT and of the new opportunities it provides within organisations and society. It will also develop practical skills in problem solving in the wider sense. Year One (AS) looks at information systems and presenting information. Level Two Diploma in IT Course Description There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs. Some learners may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a Level 3 programme Exam Board BTEC Entry Requirements A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or an Introductory Diploma in ICT at Merit/Distinction plus interview.
