Lathrop Intermediate School Home of the Spartans Positive Behavior Rewards College Prep Lesson Wednesday, September 21, 2016 Respect Responsibility Safety

Speech and Debate Team The Lathrop Speech and Debate team is looking for more members that want to compete in our four tournaments this year. The first is on Saturday October 8th. Last year’s team had ten members who won seven individual trophies, including one 1st place, and was the 3rd best team overall, beating seven schools with bigger teams!

How it works: Students work with Mr. Barber and the other coaches to find or create scripts they want to perform in one or two of seven different events, and get coaching and advice once a week while they prepare. At tournaments, they perform against other students to see who is the best at speaking, acting or arguing, depending on the events they chose. Students can select either Tuesday, Thursday or Friday after school for 15 minute to 1 hour coaching sessions – their choice! Coaching and sign ups are in room 206, with Mr. Barber.

Student of the Month Each month, each teacher will select one male and one female student. If selected, you will receive: A certificate 1 week pass to the front of the lunch line Respect Responsibility Safety
