Communication: The process by which information is exchanged through a common system of symbols, speech, signs, machines, and behaviors interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs

Sender, Message, Receiver, & Feedback Communication System In order to Communicate, you need to have an organized or established method to complete the task: Sender, Message, Receiver, & Feedback Sender Message Feedback Receiver

During the transmitting of a message, two elements will be received: How do we Communicate? During the transmitting of a message, two elements will be received: Content- is the actual words or symbols of the message that is known as language — the spoken and written words combined into phrases that make grammatical and semantic sense. Context - is the way the message is delivered and is known as paralanguage — it is the nonverbal elements in speech such as the tone of voice, the look in the sender's eyes, body language, hand gestures, and state of emotions (anger, fear, uncertainty, confidence, etc.) that can be detected.

Parts of a Communication Subsystem Encoder: A device that converts a signal into a code Transmitter: Receives the code from the encoder & sends it back out Receiver: Takes in (Receives) the signal sent by transmitter Decoder: Device that changes incoming code into useful information Destination: Where & Who the message was suppose to go… Feedback

Forms of Communication Systems Wave Communications: Forms of communication that have their messages carried by energy sources that move through air, water, outer space, or solids in a wave form. Telecommunications: is a general term for a vast array of technologies that send information over distances. Mobile phones, land lines, satellite phones, and voice over the Internet. Modes of Communicating There are Four ways to communicate. Person to Person: Drums, Smoke Signals, Printing, Crying, Voice, Paintings, Music, etc Person to Machine: Person typing on Computer, Joystick to Video Game, Apps on Cell Phones, Computer Programming Machine to Person: Tea Pot Whistling, Alarm Clock in Morning, Smoke Detectors, Directions from Computer or Cell Phone – GPS 4. Machine to Machine: Sprinkler Systems, Motion Detection Lights, Materials being Mass Produced in Factories by Computers

Letterpress printing is a relief printing technique: The printing surface is raised above the rest of the printing plate.

dynamic digital printing gravure printing a printing process in which letters and designs are etched or scratched into a metal plate; ink fills these grooves and is then transferred to paper dynamic digital printing the use of printing machines that print directly from a computer file instead of a printing plate xerography a printing process that transfers negatively charged toner to positively charged paper serigraphy a printing process that uses a printing plate made of an open screen of silk, nylon, or metal mesh lithography a printing process that is based on the principle that oil and water do not mix

The designer creates a message, or a copy. After the printing, copies of the message become prints. four-color process printing combining magenta, cyan, yellow, and black to produce all the other colors used on printed materials copy in printing, a graphic message ready for reproduction print a printed copy of a graphic message layout arrangement of elements on a page to be printed
