HISTORY Jorge Matetic, Founder & GM In 1892, the Matetic family emigrated from Croatia to Chile to colonize Patagonia. Over the years, the family has been successful in a number of earth based businesses including farming, ranching, mining and tourism. Matetic Vineyards is part of Matetic Enterprises, a strong economic and diversified holding company with solid financial backing. While developing their Rosario Valley enterprise, they found extraordinary conditions for growing premium wine grapes giving them an opportunity to further diversify their agricultural business. In 1999, Matetic Vineyards was established in the Rosario Valley, pioneering the planting of vineyards in the San Antonio Valley. The vineyards were designed and planted Biodynamically with a total of 420 acres planted and 2/3 of the fruit is used for the production of Matetic wines. Matetic was the first Chilean winery to grow cool climate Syrah which is considered the Chilean benchmark by key wine writers such as Jancis Robinson, Decanter, Robert Parker and The Wine Spectator. IMPORTER | MARKETER | DISTRIBUTOR Matetic Vineyards is located in Fundo Rosario, 120 km (75 miles) away from Santiago. The north part of the property is located in the Casablanca Valley D.O. and the south part of the property is part of the San Antonio Valley D.O. Matetic has 3 vineyards. Santo Tomas Vineyard: Located 13 km (8miles) from the Pacific Ocean, in the northern zone of Fundo Rosario in the Casablanca Valley D.O. Planted between 2005 and 2007, Santo Tomas has 32 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, mainly Syrah, and also Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec & Cabernet Franc. Rosario Vineyard: The original vineyard at Matetic planted between 1999 and 2002. It has the warmest weather of the Matetic vineyards. Located 17 km (10.5 miles) from the Pacific Ocean in the northern zone of Fundo Rosario, it is in the sub-Rosario Valley, which corresponds to a subdivision of the San Antonio Valley D.O. Rosario has 61 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir & Syrah. The winery and cellars are located nearby. Valle Hermoso Vineyard: Located on the north zone of Fundo Rosario, this vineyard is only 8 km (5 miles) from the Pacific Ocean in the Casablanca Valley D.O. Valle Hermoso has 28 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards of Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noir which was planted in 2007. ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC PHILOSOPHY Our 470 acres are based in organic production principles to achieve 100% natural grapes.
