Kick-off Kavala, Greece 6-8 June 2017 This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 727277

level Description Reconstructed, unprocessed instrument and payload data at full resolution, with any and all communications artifacts (e. g., synchronization frames, communications headers, duplicate data) removed. 1a Reconstructed, unprocessed instrument data at full resolution, time-referenced, and annotated with ancillary information, including radiometric and geometric calibration coefficients and georeferencing parameters (e. g., platform ephemeris) computed and appended but not applied to the Level 0 data (or if applied, in a manner that level 0 is fully recoverable from level 1a data). 1b Level 1a data that have been processed to sensor units (e. g., radar backscatter cross section, brightness temperature, etc.); not all instruments have Level 1b data; level 0 data is not recoverable from level 1b data. 2 Derived geophysical variables (e. g., ocean wave height, soil moisture, ice concentration) at the same resolution and location as Level 1 source data. 3 Variables mapped on uniform spacetime grid scales, usually with some completeness and consistency (e. g., missing points interpolated, complete regions mosaicked together from multiple orbits, etc.). 4 Model output or results from analyses of lower level data (i. e., variables that were not measured by the instruments but instead are derived from these measurements).

Objective WP8: To assess and enhance the performance of the services and the quality of the data provided at the Model Observatories

WP 8: End-user Services WP6 WP7 WP8 WP9 Validation: Platform (D8.1) Platform development (validation, operation, maintenance) Big Data management (algorithms, tools) End-user Services Adjustment in Model Observatories Uncertainty analysis methods Platform functionality assessment Data Management Plan Ecosystem assessment (all observatories) End-users consultation and feedback analysis Validation and Pilot testing of the platform T9.3 (user validation workshops) T9.1 (protocols to quantify benefits) Validation: Platform (D8.1) Data and results for every pilot project (D8.4) Ecosystem assessment: Link data and future ecosystem state (D8.2) DMP regarding processed and generated data (D8.5) Is there feedback to WP4 and WP5?

WP 8: End-user Services Task 8.1: Experimental and operational platform assessment identification of defects, gaps, areas of risk measuring the adequacy of the output assessment of the reliability of the operations Task 8.2: Ecosystem evaluation in each observatory multi-scale monitoring of current ecosystem indicators linking data and estimate future ecosystem state error propagation, uncertainty and quality assessment Task 8.3: End-users consultation and feedback analysis developing stakeholder community showcasing and testing the forecasting and scenario capabilities of the platform by the stakeholders hindcasting past periods and calibrating the models to produce an operational model assessing stocks per ecoregion or observatory Task 8.4: Validation and Pilot testing of the platform by selected end-users validatiing and testing the platform by the end-users (user friendliness, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the data acquisition process) quantify benefits, report necessary adjustments to Model Observatories Task 8.5: End-users services operation and maintenance developing and implementing a plan for the operation and maintenance of the services developing Data Management Plan (DMP)

Framework Task name Duration Deliverable name Task 8.1: Experimental and operational platform assessment M6-M20 D8.1: Report on functionality assessment (M20) D8.2: Ecosystem assessment for all observatories (M40) D8.3: Report on End-users consultation and feedback analysis (M48) D8.4: Protocol and report pilot project, including analysis of the results of the pilot projects (M48) D8.5: DMP regarding processed and generated data (M48) Task 8.2: Ecosystem evaluation in each observatory M20-M40 Task 8.3: End-users consultation and feedback analysis M20-M42 Task 8.4: Validation and Pilot testing of the platform by selected end-users Task 8.5: End-users services operation and maintenance M43-M48
