SUBJECT (Week 4) 2nd Sem Date: 30 Jan – 3 Feb 2017 Room 111 – W. Martin MATH 6A – PER 2 & 5 SCIENCE/HEALTH – PER 4 & 6 B-Read Math Triumphs Math Intervention Period 3 DO NOW ACTIVITY Use your flash cards to test your partner on Academic Vocabulary being used in this math lesson. Document your learning experience by using the 3 Big Questions. Use flash cards to test your partner on Academic Vocabulary that you are presently using in this Health lesson. Make flash cards that show the academic vocabulary in this lesson. Make sure you have the word on one side and the definition on the other side of the card. LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE SWBAT compute the range on a line plot using academic vocabulary: combining like terms, rule, variable, constant term, simplify, coefficient, Order of Operations, term. SWBAT understand how personal health is important to a healthy life which includes maintenance of basic body functions using academic vocabulary: astigmatism, cavity, cuticle, decibels, dermatologist, farsightedness, melanin, nearsightedness. Students will understand how to identify and represent on a number line decimals using the academic vocabulary: decimal, compare, and order. STANDARDS By the end of the week, students will be able to understand how solve math problems involving area, order or operations and basic algebra. By the end of the week, students will know how to manage their personal health and how it is important to use good personal products, visit the doctor, optometrist, and dental professions each year. By the end of the week, students will know how to compare and order positive and negative decimals and place them on a number line. ESSENTIAL QUESTION Why is it important to know how to perform mathematics in a logical sequence using the Order or Operations? Why is it important to know the state of your Personal Health? Why is it important to be able to compare and order decimals? HOMEWORK Do the Chapter 6 Closure Test, CL 6-120 to CL 6-128 on pages 310 to 311. Complete the 2nd IAB test for SBAC. Define all academic words on 3 x 5 cards. Do Chapter 4, lessons and activities 12, 13, and 14 in your workbook from page 21 to 27 Make foldable on page 85 and write/define academic vocabulary on it. Complete Lesson 4-3, Compare and Order Decimals, problems 1 to 39, pages 83 to 87. Copy the academic words and define them on a card and test your partner each day. TEST Your test will be the CPM Chapter 6 Review Test. Your test will be Chapter 4 Assessment, questions 1 – 20 on page 112. Your test will be Chapter 4 Progress Check 2, problems 1 to 10, page 88. SPECIAL EVENTS I do report cards on 10 Feb 2017. Extra credit: Perform the 4th scenario from the Health video tape with other students. I do report cards on 10 Feb 2016.
