September’s STEAM Challenge: “Rube Goldberg Machine” Project Due: Friday 9/29/2017 Please submit your project to the STEAM Project Box in the library. You may want to record your machine in action or take photos of each part. Please turn in a drawing of your plans even if it happens after you complete your design. Family support is encouraged! September’s STEAM Challenge: “Rube Goldberg Machine” Greetings Future Engineers ! Your challenge is to create a Rube Goldberg Machine! Have you played Mouse Trap? Maybe you’ve seen a cartoon where a ball travels down a ramp, which then bumps a set of dominoes, which then knocks a bucket of water over, etc. Every Rube Goldberg Machine is made of a series of simple machines that help pass energy from beginning to end. The end result is the goal. We would like you to pop a balloon for this challenge! You need to have at least 7 different steps. The challenge will be to see who can get the most steps in their “machine” in order to pop a balloon. With your parent, please check out YouTube videos of Rube Goldberg Machines for inspiration and ideas.
