SNEL STATUS IN EUROPE Status per country – First MOVERS (5) GERMANY National filtering in progress, covering 85 % of lifts installed in the last 30 years New regulation published in October 2003, covering lifts as work equipment (= UWED, covering in particular workers’ safety !) 30 of SNEL risks in focus (40%), 8 with high priority TÜV organisations already carry out SNEL-based risk assessment, on demand of the lift owner 04/06/04 SNEL Forum / J. SNEL STATUS IN EUROPE Status per country – Getting involved United Kingdom, Portugal, Sweden National filtering in progress SNEL seminars being organised by industry No National laws started, but some existing ones like UWED (UK) in place Accessibility legislation in UK comes into effect in October 2004 National law published in December 2002 in Portugal covering some SNEL risks (car doors) CD-rom produced in Sweden about SNEL 04/06/04 SNEL Forum / J. SNEL STATUS IN EUROPE Status per country – Slow Moving??? Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Greece,…new EU countries? National law since 1985 in Norway about safety, …national SNEL filtering started Finland: based on new work and safety standard: 5 SNEL risks covered Local initiative at Geneva “canton” addressing 11 SNEL risks until 2008. Most EN81 standards implemented in Greece meanwhile.…SNEL filtering started ...but what about initiatives from involved parties at National level on SNEL? 04/06/04 SNEL Forum / J. Ligüerre
SNEL STATUS IN EUROPE What next? The path has been initiated and will not stop... A lot of people from all involved parties have performed a tremendous and valuable work!! Both, lift users and workers safety as well as accessibility for ALL is being addressed... 04/06/04 SNEL Forum / J. Ligüerre
SNEL STATUS IN EUROPE What next? The path will end with lifts that are safer and more easily accessible for ALL of us!! With SNEL, the safety target for all lift can be reached in amm member states!!
