VCM Replication – Visual Communications & Marketing Inc. Blu-ray disc derives its name from the blue laser that is used to read discs. The blue ray discs utilize blu ray lasers for reading and writing data. Interactive features created via blu-ray authoring make navigation easier and contribute in a better user experience There was a time when we had to use floppy drives that could store on about 1 MB of data. Then came compact discs which increased this capacity for data storage to around 750 MB, then came the age of digital video discs that could store about 4 GB of data. But with advent of new technology and innovations in data storage media, a new range of data storage devices called blu-ray discs have made its way into the market. Blu-ray is also known as Blu-ray disc (BD) and is a next generation digital data storage format developed to deliver High Definition video content and or large amounts of data. VCM Replication – Visual Communications & Marketing Inc. Blu-ray disc derives its name from the blue laser that is used to read discs. The blue ray discs utilize blu ray lasers for reading and writing data. Since blu-ray has relatively short wavelength than the red ray that is used on DVDs (digital video discs), they allow for a greater amount of information to be written and read. Another advantage is that the short wavelength of blu ray allows strong focusing of laser beam and a very fine structure of the written data. VCM Replication – Visual Communications & Marketing Inc. That is why when it comes to imaging applications, high definition videos and data storage blu-ray discs are now preferred over DVDs as they allow information to be stored at a greater density than is possible with the longer-wavelength red laser used for DVDs. The blue lasers use InGaN (indium gallium nitride) which has a violet color and GaN (gallium nitride) which has a true-blue color as opposed to red and infrared lasers which usually use GaAs (gallium arsenide). The blue laser allows blu-ray disc to utilize smaller pits and lands (it is the method by which information or data is stored on an optimal disc) than those used on SD DVDs. As the pits and lands are smaller they can be placed closer together resulting in more data and information storage capacity. Email - info@vcmreplication.com Contact No - 905.361.2977

VCM Replication – Visual Communications & Marketing Inc. What is blu-ray authoring? Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a high density optical disc storage medium that supersedes the DVD format, however the dimensions and size of blu-ray discs are the same as that of DVDs and CDs. With huge quantity of data stored on blu-ray discs, blu-ray authoring process becomes all the more important. Just imagine that whenever you need a information to be read from the disc, you will have to read the whole disc and search for the information you require, how cumbersome that would turn out to be. But with blu-ray authoring, this becomes quite easy. In simple language, blu ray authoring is the process of compiling individual video, audio, image and graphic data into a format that can easily play on multiple types of players and devices without any compatibility issues. In blu-ray authoring, interactive user interface consisting of menus and chapter stops are created and integrated on a blu-ray disc. This allows the user to access various elements of the disc independently. Email - info@vcmreplication.com Contact No - 905.361.2977

VCM Replication – Visual Communications & Marketing Inc. These interactive features created via blu-ray authoring make navigation easier and contribute in a better user experience. Many large brands utilize blu-ray authoring judiciously to reinforce their brand identity and extend your media’s reach beyond the audiovisual content.
