EuroSkills HELSINKI 2020

EuroSkills 2020 EuroSkills is a vocational skills competition that is held every two years. The host country and city varies from year to year. Finland has made a bid to host the EuroSkills 2020 competition in Helsinki. Another candidate is Graz in Austria. Finland has proposed to organize the EuroSkills 2020 in Helsinki from 10th to 17th May 2020. Finland holds the EU presidency during the spring 2020, which gives us an opportunity to raise the European awareness about the importance and impact of EuroSkills and get it to the agenda in different high level EU meetings.

The Finnish way to organize EuroSkills 2020 Skills Finland has the main responsibility in organizing the event. The main partners are the Ministry of Education and Culture, City of Helsinki and Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre. All the stakeholders of VET are members of Skills Finland, and they are committed to the project: Finnish National Board of Education, VET providers and vocational schools, organizations of employers, organizations of employees, organizations of teachers and students. Also, great number of companies especially our partners in national skills competition Taitaja are committed. We have an experienced network of over 300 teachers and trainers. They have been working either in the Finnish national competition Taitaja that is organized every year, or in EuroSkills or WorldSkills competitions. Many of them were involved when WorldSkills Helsinki 2005 was organized.

What is important to us? Future orientation and innovations Visitor experience, something to all the different target groups Cooperation, participation and involvement Quality, effectiveness, cost efficiency Connections to the Finnish EU Presidency
