Project Status RfQ begin of Dec 2013 Proposal submitted begin of Feb 2014 ESA response begin of May 2014 (request for clarification): No technical issues Main contractual / financial issues: DLR liability clauses VAT for subcontractors Main issues seem to be clarified; draft contract available, has been commented by Univ. Bremen legal department

Project Structure

General Schedule Project duration is 30 months (probably starting July 2014) Assumption (for the planning): The next L1/L2 versions will be the last ones 1st half of project: Preparation of new baseline (main focus on L1) -> All activities related to changes in processing need to be finished after about 1 year, incl. first verification MTR after 15 month: Decide if work on baseline is finished or not (taking into account funding situation at that time) Decide if some scientific products can be made operational 2nd half of project (from current view): Verification, reprocessing (& validation by Sciavalig -> funding?) Preparation of ‘final’ product version incl. documentation, long-term recommendations, etc. Finalisation of scientific products (full reprocessing, documentation) National funding (IUP) currently ends 2015 May affect generation of scientific products & documentation

Schedule of WPs

Workplan (first months) – to be discussed (1) ‘Leftovers’ from SQWG-2: Finalisation of baseline: Main open issue from verification: CO quality (DLR) -> Suggestion: if not resolved, remove from L2V6 product list Tropospheric NO2 (DLR/IUP) -> Status, availability? Reprocessed/extended L1V8, L2V6 data sets (ESA/DLR) -> available when? General: Verification/validation activities required based on extended data sets (all) Especially: O3 total column verification/trend check based on extended/reprocessed data set (BIRA) Update of Product Handbook L1V8, L2V6 (IUP/all)

Workplan (first months) – to be discussed (2) Polarisation studies: SRON to provide new key data IUP/SRON to perform consistency checks (incl. solar spectrum) Aim: Decide need / usefulness for further polarisation studies Lower priority for first months: Non-linearity ch. 2 report (SRON/all) Mirror model/degradation correction to be improved for better consistency between different residual m-factors (SRON/IUP)
