Explore 1 DISCUSS THIS WITH YOUR TABLE GROUP… How can you observe what the weather Is the weather always the same? is like outside? What was the weather like yesterday? What is your favorite kind of weather?

What is weather? (It is what the air is like outside.) Explain 1 What is weather? (It is what the air is like outside.) What are some types of weather? (sunny, rainy, windy, breezy, calm, etc) What are the clues that tell us the weather is sunny? (a bright day with sun shinning all the time, no clouds to block the sunlight) What clues are there on a windy day? (Things are blowing so objects appear to bend or move.) What are clues for a rainy day? (Rain is falling and usually no bright sun is shinning.) SCIE_2_A_Les36WeatherTools_MAT 2014 CFISD

Explain 2 Look at your weather tracking booklets. What type of weather did you record? Some days are warm and sunny. On some days it’s windy. On some days, rain falls. In some places where the weather gets very cold, snow may fall.

Weather Tracking Calendar Explain 3 Weather Tracking Calendar For 2 weeks, record your observations of the weather conditions outside. Each day, draw a symbol from the Weather Symbols Key to represent the weather conditions you observe. You may also record the high and low temperatures for each day to look for patterns. month: Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday

Let’s look at a weather website. Elaborate 1 Let’s look at a weather website. http://www.weatherwizkids.com/wxinstruments.htm Welcome to Weather Wiz Kids®. I'm meteorologist Crystal Wicker. I designed this website especially for kids to allow them to learn more about the fascinating world of weather. ABOUT ME Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated with the weather. I remember going outside with my father and watching thunderstorms pass by. During one thunderstorm in particular, a tornado ripped through my hometown of Kendallville, Indiana and just missed my grandparents house. It was one of the scariest moments of my life and is one of the reasons I am a meteorologist today. SCIE_2_A_Les36WeatherTools_MAT 2014 CFISD
