Chester le Street Cohesion Unit Newsletter Summer 2017 The Herbert Protocol has seen its first success after a man from Pelton who suffers from dementia went missing and was quickly located. PC Steve Brown and PC Dan Beardmore from Pelton Neighbourhood Policing Team were able to quickly obtain personal information about the man, including his picture and the places he was likely to go. Not only were the individual’s family free from stress and trauma, it also saved a huge amount of police time and resources searching for him. The Herbert Protocol is a proactive tool to support vulnerable adults from going missing, but also to provide a systematic and joint community approach to locating them if they do.
