Current Links with Asia Fundraising program for Emera East Timor Written exchanges between the two schools
Yr 5/6 had a unit planned ‘Our Nation’s Neighbours’ Focus on: How is Australia & Asia connected within a global society? How have Asian cultures contributed to Australia? Asian countries have different cultures,traditions & governance
Students investigated a country of choice Mythbusting activity Wrote a persuasive text on Why Australia’s relationship with Asia is so important Contrast & compare similarities & differences between a range of Asian countries
2011 Whole School Focus Term 3 Project & Performance presentation To explore Asian performing arts as a means of celebrating a sense of place and identity
Engage Kita Performing Arts Company over 9 weeks to work with classes on traditional & contemporary dance forms & performance A whole school inquiry unit of work will be developed to research festivals particular to an Asian country
Design accompanying art – masks, costumes Japanese teacher to work with a group on Japanese dance Performing Arts teacher to have a drumming group perform Librarian to focus on research & stories
