Reading: Math Classroom Pictures Spelling/Phonics: In math, we are on Unit 3: Unknown Numbers in Addition and Subtraction. Students are learning how to identify what is known and unknown in a given equation or story problem and then apply a strategy to solve for the unknown number! We are using math mountain to help find the unknown partner or whole. Reading: We just finished reading the story A Cupcake Party! Our comprehension focus was story structure. We practiced retelling the story by including the characters, setting, and events in order. At home have your child practice retelling stories that they read! This week we will be reading an informational text called At Home in the Ocean. With this story, we will be thinking about the author’s purpose and what new information we can learn from the story.
