What is dyslexia?

When I am reading the letters swim or jump around When I am reading the letters swim or jump around. I sometimes confuse similar looking letters like p/d. It is difficult to remember common letter patterns in spelling. I find it difficult to remember to bring the correct equipment to school like my homework or reading book.

I sometimes struggle to keep things tidy. Sometimes I find it difficult to concentrate. I am not always able to follow instructions because my working memory means that I can’t hold onto lots of instructions given at once. Sometimes I am unsure about which is left or right so may not be able to follow directions or read a map.

I know learning is a challenge but meeting the challenge can be great! I often come up with lots of new ideas! I’m good at solving problems – an excellent trouble shooter. I’m good at explaining my ideas in Science.

What do you think being a dyslexia friendly school might mean? Is it… we shake hands and smile at everyone who is dyslexic Or b) more than this? Which will you choose option a or option b?
