RESET MY TRUST IN GOD John 11:38-44

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD “Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out."

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."” ‭‭John‬ ‭11:38-44‬ ‭ESV‬‬

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD BIG IDEA: God wants to be the God of your present moments not just the God of your past and future.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Jesus responds with the following: “But when Jesus heard it he said, "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."” John‬ ‭11:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We must realize that everything we go through is for the glory of God.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD There are times when God will tell you He's gonna change your situation but it may not happen immediately. You have to trust the process.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Delay is not denial Just because you don't get the result you want right away doesn't mean that God isn't working in your midst

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD What did God speak to you? If God hasn't spoken to you, where in His word can you find a word of promise and fulfillment? The process of trust needs a word from God.....

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Have you ever been in a place where you had a word from God, but it seemed like it would never happen? Have you ever been in a place where you had a word from God and things got worse?

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD What do they do now? In John 11:20-27 we read the details: “So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world."” John‬ ‭11:20-27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Notice Martha's response: Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. She responds by looking at the past and starts to reflect on what could of happened, what should have happened, and what she expected to happen.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Too often, we have in our mind what our healing looks like, what our salvation looks like, what our deliverance looks like so we stay stuck in the past, not recognizing that God has a different idea for our healing and our miracle that hasn't happened yet.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Sometimes we avoid the present because the present has too much pain and we don't want to deal with the pain. Instead we rather just believe for the future. It's ok to look forward to the future but you still have to deal with the pain of the present.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Too many of us trust God for our future but the real question is, can you trust Him in the present?

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD This is why I love what Jesus told Martha: “Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"” ‭‭John‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus replied: "Before Abraham was, I am." RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Jesus replied: "Before Abraham was, I am."

I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE RESET MY TRUST IN GOD I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE Just like His "I AM" is more than enough for her "I need", His “I AM” is more than enough for your “I need”.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD His "I am" fills in the blanks for what you need. Trusting the process is trusting in the "I am" ness of God. In your present moment and present situation, trust in the fact that the "I AM the resurrection and the life” is working in your present moment.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD BIG IDEA: God wants to be the God of your present moments not just the God of your past and future.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD The fact of the matter is this: God wants us to trust Him in every moment of our life. God desires for us to experience Him in His "I AM"ness.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD What are you believing for God to do in your present moment? What have you put into a tomb that God needs to resurrect so you can experience Him in your present moment?

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Will you reset your trust to know that God is at work in your present life and that the He is the resurrection and the life? Will you reset your trust to know that God is removing the stone and resurrecting the promises He has spoken to you? “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭62:8

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD PRAYER: Father, Thank You that You are not just the God of our past and future, but that You are the God in our present moments and circumstances. Thank You for Your promises and for the process to receive Your promises.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Your promises are yes and amen so when all is dark and we feel weak and helpless, give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength in those moments. Help us to have perfect trust in Your perfect purpose for our lives, protecting love for us and strengthening power you provide us in every moment of life, so that nothing may frighten or worry us.

RESET MY TRUST IN GOD Help us to know that when we live close to You, we will see Your hand, Your purpose, Your will, and Your promise through all things in every moment of our lives.
