Module 5, Unit 3 Welcome to the unit
clone The advanced technique in genetics(遗传学) with which scientists can create or copy things with the same DNA is called -? clone
Scientific definition Cloning is the creation of cells or whole animals by using DNA(脱氧核糖核酸) from a single "parent", bypassing (绕道而行) the normal reproductive (生殖) process. The clone has the same DNA to the “parent”.

cloned female pigs
cloned calves from Japan
the first cloned monkey.
cloned chicken
the cloned deer
Do you think the cloned animals are as healthy as the natural ones? Dolly is, but scientists do not yet know whether this is the exception(例外) or the rule. Some early evidences suggest that clones may have health problems and that they may age prematurely (早衰的,未老先衰).
Brainstorming If you are a scientist, what doyou want to clone? Why?
More contributions to human
More world champions
China, a more harmonious community
Supposing you are facing your second self who looks Just imagine Supposing you are facing your second self who looks like you, talks like you and thinks like you, how do you feel?
Try to describe Bush’s feelings.
