How Do We Work With Parents How Do We Work With Parents? We work in collaboration with parents to provide the best possible support for their child. By inviting them to meetings and providing up to date information on their child’s progress. Through regular telephone up dates from the TAs working with the student.

How Do We Ensure We Are Removing Barriers And Moving Forward How Do We Ensure We Are Removing Barriers And Moving Forward? We set and review targets with children and their families for each SEN/D child. These are circulated to all staff. We identify barriers to learning and implement strategies to overcome these barriers, such as reading intervention.

How Do We Inform Staff About Your Child’s Needs How Do We Inform Staff About Your Child’s Needs? We produce person centred plans in consultation with children and families for each SEN/D child. These are circulated to all staff and updated if needs change. TAs hold weekly meetings to discuss student progress and will liaise with teaching staff to ensure they have the most up to date information about your child.

How Do We Support Your Child In Lessons How Do We Support Your Child In Lessons? If the SEN/D child is statemented/has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHC) they will be supported by TAs dedicated to that particular year group. This could be in class support but could also include interventions, one to one and also structuring support to aid independence. For SEN support students we will try to give them some access to shared support if needed.

What If My Child Is Finding Things Difficult Emotionally Or Struggling With Aspects Of A Physical Disability? We have the Learning Support Room, an emotional support base, where we can cater for emergency or short term needs to ensure children still have access to the curriculum.

How Do We Prepare Our SEN/D Students For The Next Phases Of Their Education? We work with the careers service, our multi-agency team and local post 16 providers to ensure our students are prepared for their next steps. We can arrange Travel training and extra visits to post 16 establishments.

How Do We Identify/Assess Potential Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? We have a variety of procedures in place including monitoring of external tests such as SATs and CATs, transition information and feedback from staff. What Interventions Do We Offer What Interventions Do We Offer? We support students outside lessons in a range of ways including literacy, numeracy, life skills, reading recovery, inference, and exam access Full details can be found in the SEN Policy.

However, as a mainstream school there will always be some limitations so we would be happy to meet and discuss whether we are the right place for your child.
