SUMMARY: Antichrist is a term that refers to those with error about Christ and the understanding associated with “the flesh”. Antichrist also refers more broadly to those that say one thing, but then deny Christ in the way that they live their lives. Brethren that did not understand the practical implications of the truth i.e. to love the brethren, left the ecclesia and John says they are not of us. He encourages us to have God in us (that is in our minds and hearts through the word) and to be in God through our walk. As children of the devil we practice sin and those that hate their brother are termed murderers. As children of God we do not practice sin, but rather righteousness and we have eternal life. We may experience hatred from the world, but as little children, we have overcome the children of the devil, because we hear the apostles and God is greater than the world and its supporters.
