Foundation High School Plan with Endorsement Credits English (English 1,2,3,4) 4.0 Mathematics (Algebra 1,Geometry, Algebra 2, 4th math course) Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, 4th science course) Social Studies (W. Geography, W. History, US History, Gov’t, Econ) Languages Other Than English (Spanish 1 and 2) 2.0 Physical Education (PE, Athletics, Band, ROTC, Cheerleader) 1.0 Fine Arts (Art, Band, Theatre Arts, Floral Design, Dance) Electives (Endorsement and other electives) 6.0 Total 26

DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by completing: 4 credits in mathematics, which must include Algebra 2 4 credits in Science; The remaining curriculum requirements; and The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement A student must earn the Distinguished Level of Achievement Graduation Plan to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission to a university/college.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS A performance acknowledgement may be earned from any of the following: Dual Credit (12 hours with A’s and B’s) Bilingualism (3 levels of same language with 80 GPA, score of 3 or greater on the AP test) College Board AP exam (score of 3 or higher) PSAT, ACT, or SAT ( minimum scores must be met) Earning a recognized business or industry certification (through advanced endorsement electives)

ENDORSEMENT Refer to the FHS Endorsement Handout An Endorsement is a coherent sequence of courses that includes 4 or more credits in a career pathway with at least 1 credit from an advanced course. This allows for an opportunity to learn more about various careers. Students began their endorsement in the 9th grade by enrolling in the 1st course (principles or introduction course) of their chosen career pathway. The 5 Endorsements are: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Business/Industry Public Service Arts/Humanities Multidisciplinary Studies

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Endorsement Includes courses directly related to: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Science Math Technology Business and Industry Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Arts, A/V Technology, Communication Business Management Printing Technology Fashion Design Culinary Information Technology Welding Auto Mechanics Public Services ROTC Education Arts and Humanities Spanish Social Studies Fine Arts (Band, Art, Theatre Arts) Multidisciplinary Studies Allows a student to select courses from the curriculum of each endorsement area and earn credits in a variety of advanced courses from multiple content areas sufficient to complete the distinguished level of achievement.

2017-2018 9th Grade Course Requests English 1 or (PAP) Algebra 1 or (PAP); Geometry (PAP) (If student earned Algebra 1 credit in MS) Biology or (PAP) World Geography or (PAP) PE or PE Substitute (Athletics 1, Band 1, ROTC 1, Cheer) or ELECTIVE Spanish 1 AVID or Fine Art (Art1, Band1, Theatre Arts 1, Dance, Floral Design) or ELECTIVE Endorsement (First course in their career pathway-endorsement) Course requests do not reflect ARD placement at this time

REGULAR VS. PRE ADVANCED PLACEMENT (PAP) Pre Advanced Placement courses are: more rigorous given a weighted value when calculating GPA under a contract and maintain at least a 75 average at each grading period To remain in the GT program a student must commit to at least 1 PAP course per semester.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE 1. Review your student’s FHS 4 Year Graduation Plan. Please make sure they are complete. 2. Sign the 4 Year Plan printed on NCR paper and turn it in when leaving. Parent signature is required on the 4 Year Plan 3. You may keep the folder
